Alison Elizabeth Larter was born on the 28th February 1976 to Maragert and Daniel Larter in Cherry Hill, New Jersey with her older sister, Kristen. She attended Carusi Middle School and Cherry Hill High School West. When she was fourteen she began modelling for the famous modelling agency Ford Models. She travelled the world and when she was seventeen, she shortly settled in Japan. While modelling in Italy, Ali met her future best friend, co-star and roommate Amy Smart. A year later in 1995, Ali accompanied her boyfriend into moving to Los Angeles, California. Shortly after, a friend suggested to take acting classes and Ali realised that it's what she wanted to do from now on, even though admitting to not liking the classes. As Ali's modelling career took off she appeared on the cover of Esquire magazine in Novemebr, 1996. Though it didn't promote Ali herself, its promoted Allegra Coleman, a fictious character in which the magazine labels as the latest "It" girl. The issue centered around hollywood hype and they approached Ali to model the cover and article. The magazine got her noticed and Ali soon got an agent and started appearing as a guest on many tv-shows. Such as, Suddenly Susan, Chicago Sons, Chicago Hope, Just Shoot Me! and the most famously in Dawsons Creek.

Her first scene in the movie, Varsity Blues.
Her new friend (Amy) however was already working in movies and had decided to audition for a new teen comedy, Varsity Blues. She decided to ask Ali to audition for a part in the movie aswell and shortly after, the girls found out they both got parts in the movie alongside James Van Der Beek, Paul Walker and Scott Caan. The movie was released on the 15th January, 1999 and became a surprise box-office hit raking in $52,885,587 in total. The film also thrust the actors into the limelight and from now on Ali was known as "whipped cream bikini-girl". Ali has also said that her whipped cream scene was her first day and first scene of shooting and that it was made out of shaving cream. The film was released on the 31st May, 1999 and remains one of Ali's favourites that she has done.

Starring in horror/thriller, Final Destination.
After the huge sucess that was Varsity Blues, Ali got offered many roles which were mostly teen comedy based. She starred in Giving It Up and Drive Me Crazy alongside Melissa Joan Hart in 1999. Even though these films didn't do too well at the box office, Ali was set for another box-office hit. Later that year, Ali appeared as Sara Wolfe in horror remake House on Haunted Hill. Even though the film was panned by critics, it went on to rake in over $40,000,000 in the US alone. In 2000, Ali again appeared in a supernatural horror film which became a world known franchise called Final Destination. Ali starred as the "final girl" Clear Rivers and the movie went on to gross over $50,000,000. The film earned her critical praise and she went on to win the Young Hollywood Award for Best Breakthrough Performance Female. Next year, Ali appeared in another box-office smash called Legally Blonde alongside Reese Witherspoon but was yet to get a leading role. The movie earned over $95,000,000 domestically and $141,774,679 worldwide.

Later that year, Ali starred in two entirely different films. First was the western drama, American Outlaws where Ali was cast alongside with Colin Farrell and then Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Ali admitted to having a lot of fun on the set playing a "tough, luscious lesbian" as Ali describes. That year as well, Ali performed in the famous stage play, Vagina Monologues in New York City. In 2003, Ali was back to the horror genre and reprised her role as Clear Rivers in Final Destination 2. She was cast as the lead actress and the film, yet was not well received by critics. For the rest of the year, Ali took a break from movies and moved back to her favorite city, New York. In 2004 only filmed a low-budget, indie movie called Three Way where Ali starred alongside Dominic Purcell and Joy Bryant. Then in 2005, Ali filmed a small part in the romantic comedy, A Lot Like Love and also the independant thriller, Confess. In 2006, Ali made another small film called Crazy where she played Evelyn Garland and the film was praised. Also that year, Ali filmed low-budget, caveman comedy Homo Erectus where she met her then boyfriend, Hayes MacArthur. Up next was the bollywood film Marigold where Ali spends time dancing and singing throughout the film. In 2006, Ali started filming as Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Extinction, her role sent her to Mexicali, Mexico for filming from May to late July in which she also dyed her hair a light red for the film, which she has admitted she loved. Ali also said that the biggest challenge on the set was the excruciating heat.

Ali portaying superhuman Niki in Heroes.
In September 2006, Ali began portraying Niki Sanders on the NBC Emmy Award-nominated drama television series Heroes, created by Tim Kring. Ali's character Niki Sanders, who is a single mother, is an internet stripper from Las Vegas who exhibits superhuman strength and an alternate personality who goes by the name of Jessica. After completing half its first season, Heroes had already collected an assortment of honors and accolades, and Larter had been nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" for the 33rd Saturn Awards. Ali's acting and her role has been popular with the critics and viewers and she finished filming the second season late 2007. The season was cut short due to the writers strike so Ali took a break from filming and got the part of Lisa Sheridan in thriller, Obsessed. In possibly one of Ali's biggest films yet, she plays a woman who begins stalking Derek Charles, played by Idris Elba. The film also stars Beyoncé Knowles as Dereks wife and is set to be released early 2009.

Whilst filming Obsessed, Ali returned to the third season of Heroes in which she will play another personality called Tracy Strauss with a new ability. Recognized by her acting in television, Ali earned herself a Gracie Award in 2008 for Heroes and has become one of Ali's proudest moments in her career. We do not know what the future holds for Ali, but what we do know is that she will continue to rock hollywood with her skills, looks and down to earth attitude. Also, she will soon be getting married to boyfriend, Hayes MacArthur and we hope Ali keeps living her life to the fullest.
